Why low acid
Smooth by design, measured by a lab
Coffee's acidity comes from many compounds. Chlorogenic acids (CGAs) are among the ones that shape the sharp, bitter edge in a cup, and roasting time and temperature decide how much of them is left.
- 1100% organic Arabica. Arabica beans naturally carry lower CGA levels than Robusta.
- 2Convection roasted. Hot air heats each bean evenly from skin to core.
- 3A slower, lower-temperature finish. It reduces CGAs further without over-darkening the beans.
- 4Independent testing. Third-party labs test for pH, chlorogenic acids, pesticides, mycotoxins and heavy metals.
pH, measured by an independent lab

How to brew
Ready for your brewer
- Measure. Start with 15g, about 2 tablespoons, per 8 fl oz of water.
- Brew. Drip, pour-over or French press. Use water just off the boil, about 195 to 205°F.
- Adjust. More coffee for a bolder cup, less for a lighter one.
- Store well. Reseal the bag and keep it cool and away from light.

Description
Do you love coffee but cannot handle the acid or caffeine? Whether after a meal, when you have heartburn, or simply in the evening before bed, a cup of Alex's Low Acid Organic Decaf Coffee can be warming and satisfying without any discomfort. 100% satisfaction guaranteed!!
Over 30 percent of coffee drinkers experience heartburn, reflux, or stomach discomfort after coffee. Many assume acidity or pH is to blame, but that is not the real cause. Coffee naturally contains many acids that add to its flavor and aroma, but one compound in particular, Chlorogenic Acid, especially CQA 3, 4, and 5, has been linked to irritation and bitterness. These levels can rise significantly during traditional drum roasting.
Most roasters use drum roasters where beans come into contact with hot metal. We do things differently. Our patented convection roasting system uses a bed of hot air, so the beans never come into contact with steel. This gentle roasting process ensures an even roast and significantly reduces Chlorogenic Acid levels. The result is a smooth, rich, and easy-to-drink coffee that is kind to your stomach. After roasting, our beans are decaffeinated using the Mountain Water Process, which removes caffeine naturally without harsh acids or chemicals.
If you are skeptical, that is fair. There is a lot of conflicting information about coffee and acidity. Our process is supported by the research of Dr. Taka Shibamoto, Distinguished Professor of Environmental Toxicology and Director of the UC Davis Coffee Center. His studies show that high levels of Chlorogenic Acid contribute to both bitterness and stomach irritation in coffee.
Alex's Low Acid Organic Fresh Ground Decaf Coffee is made with 100 percent pure Chiapas coffee beans. Grown in southern Mexico near the border with Guatemala, Chiapas beans share the same prized characteristics as Guatemalan coffees. They are mild and delicate with slightly sweet notes of brown sugar and pear and a smooth, nutty finish.
Certified Organic by Organic Certifiers. Our coffee beans from Chiapas come from an organic cooperative founded over 20 years ago by five indigenous Mayan tribes. In the years since obtaining certification, they have built a hospital, a school, and a modern milling facility to process their coffees. They also established a women’s center and created a lending institution that supports local entrepreneurs. Today, members of this cooperative earn up to three times as much as conventional coffee farmers while preserving their land and community.
Alex's Low Acid Organic Fresh Ground Decaf Coffee is everything good coffee should be, rich, balanced, aromatic, and gentle on your stomach. It is also socially and environmentally conscious, supporting sustainable farming and fair trade practices.
Need more proof? Order a bag of Alex's Low Acid Organic Coffee and taste the difference yourself. Many customers have shared that they can finally enjoy coffee again without heartburn or discomfort.
We recommend storing your coffee in an airtight, opaque glass, metal, or ceramic container and keeping it in a cool, dark place. Coffee can lose moisture in the freezer and absorb flavors from the fridge or freezer.
