Why low acid

Smooth by design, measured by a lab

Coffee's acidity comes from many compounds. Chlorogenic acids (CGAs) are among the ones that shape the sharp, bitter edge in a cup, and roasting time and temperature decide how much of them is left.

  1. 1
100% organic Arabica. Arabica beans naturally carry lower CGA levels than Robusta.
  2. 2
Convection roasted. Hot air heats each bean evenly from skin to core.
  3. 3
A slower, lower-temperature finish. It reduces CGAs further without over-darkening the beans.
  4. 4
Independent testing. Third-party labs test for pH, chlorogenic acids, pesticides, mycotoxins and heavy metals.

Fresh Ground is ready for everyday brewers like drip machines and pour-over. Whole Bean stays fresh longer and lets you grind for any method, including espresso. Not sure? Start with Fresh Ground.

How much caffeine is in it?

French Roast, Rise & Shine and Espresso are fully caffeinated. Half Caff has about 50 mg of caffeine per serving, roughly half of a standard cup. Decaf is decaffeinated with the Mountain Water Process, which uses water to remove the caffeine.

Description

Do you love coffee but cannot handle the acid? Whether after a meal, when you have heartburn, or simply in the evening before bed, a cup of Alex's Low-Acid Organic Coffee can be warming and satisfying without causing any discomfort. 100% satisfaction guaranteed!!

Over 30% of coffee drinkers experience upper gastrointestinal discomfort after coffee. These symptoms can appear as heartburn, reflux, or indigestion. Many assume acidity or pH is to blame, but that is not the real cause.

Coffee naturally contains many acids that add to its flavor and aroma. The true irritant is a compound called Chlorogenic Acid, especially CQA 3, 4, and 5. These compounds can occur naturally and increase during drum roasting.

Most roasters use drum roasters, where beans come into contact with hot metal. We do things differently. Our patented convection roasting system uses a stream of hot air, so the beans never touch steel. This gentle roasting process ensures an even roast and significantly reduces Chlorogenic Acid levels. The result is a clean, flavorful, and easy-to-drink coffee that is kind to your stomach.

Skeptical? That is understandable. There is a lot of confusing information about coffee and acidity. Our approach is supported by the research of Dr. Taka Shibamoto, Distinguished Professor of Environmental Toxicology and Director of the UC Davis Coffee Center. His studies show that high levels of Chlorogenic Acid contribute to bitterness and stomach irritation in coffee.

French Roast Blend: This special combination of three organic beans is mild, balanced, and full-bodied. It is roasted to a medium-leaning dark that brings out chocolate and nutty notes without bitterness or burnt flavors.

  • 50% Chiapas – Grown in southern Mexico near Guatemala, these beans are mild and delicate with sweet brown sugar and pear notes and a gentle nutty finish.
  • 25% Nicaragua – Smooth and balanced with notes of chocolate, nuts, and vanilla, and a touch of citrus brightness.
  • 25% Honduras – Known for its pleasant body and clean flavor with subtle hints of hazelnut and cocoa.

Alex's Low-Acid Organic French Roast Coffee is everything great coffee should be: rich, smooth, aromatic, and gentle on your stomach.

We recommend storing your coffee in an airtight, opaque glass, metal, or ceramic container and keeping it in a cool, dark place. Coffee beans can lose moisture in the freezer and absorb flavors from the fridge or freezer.
