Indulge in the Delightful Richness of an Easy Caramel Latte

Indulge in the Delightful Richness of an Easy Caramel Latte

by Alex Brecher November 01, 2023

This easy caramel latte recipe rivals or even surpasses the beverages you might find in a coffee shop. It's sweet, creamy, and unbelievably delicious. By using high-quality ingredients like your favorite caramel sauce and Alex's Low-Acid Organic Coffee, you can ensure it turns out just the way you like it. This recipe yields two generous servings, so you can enjoy it with a friend, or simply cut it in half for a single serving.

You have the flexibility to choose the type of milk that suits your preference. Whole milk or oat milk will give you the creamiest result, but if you prefer a lower fat content, you can opt for skim milk or choose from alternatives such as soy, almond, or coconut milk. Adding heavy cream to the milk is optional, but if you indulge, it will undoubtedly enhance the decadence of your beverage!

The type of caramel you use is up to you - whether it's a caramel topping, caramel-flavored syrup, or even melted caramel candies. Sugar-free options work great too! For those who enjoy a culinary challenge, you can even try making your own caramel using butter and brown sugar.

When it comes to the coffee component, it's essential to have a robust and complex flavor to balance out the sweetness and creaminess. Alex's Low-Acid Organic Coffee is an ideal choice as it offers a rich taste without the bitterness typically associated with high-acid coffees. Brew it strong to capture the subtle notes of chocolate and hazelnut that complement the other flavors.

For the finishing touch, whipped cream is unbeatable. Whether you prefer homemade whipped cream, a pressurized can version, or a non-dairy substitute like almond or coconut-based whipped cream, your latte experience will be taken to the next level.

While this caramel latte is perfect for enjoying during the cooler fall and winter months, you can easily adapt it for iced coffee enthusiasts. Just add some ice cubes to your glasses, cool the coffee and milk mixture, then pour it over the ice cubes. Voila! You have a refreshing iced caramel latte.

    Recipe for Easy Caramel Latte

    Makes 2 servings

    Ingredients:

    • 1 ¼ cups of whole milk
    • 3 tablespoons of caramel sauce or melted caramel candies
    • 2 tablespoons of heavy cream (optional)
    • 1 tablespoon of sugar
    • 1 ½ cups of strong brewed coffee
    • Whipped cream

Optional toppings: additional caramel, large sugar crystals, kosher salt crystals, cinnamon

    Instructions:

In a small saucepan, combine the whole milk, caramel sauce or melted caramel candies, sugar, and, if desired, the heavy cream. Heat the mixture gently while stirring or whisking. Turn off the heat once the mixture starts to steam.

Whisk vigorously if you prefer a slightly frothy milk texture.

Pour the hot coffee into two large mugs or tall heat-resistant glasses. Add about half of the caramel mixture to each glass and stir to combine.

Top each glass with whipped cream and any additional toppings of your choice, such as caramel drizzle, sugar crystals, kosher salt, or cinnamon.

Serve and enjoy this irresistible treat!
