Why low acid

Smooth by design, measured by a lab

Coffee's acidity comes from many compounds. Chlorogenic acids (CGAs) are among the ones that shape the sharp, bitter edge in a cup, and roasting time and temperature decide how much of them is left.

  1. 1
100% organic Arabica. Arabica beans naturally carry lower CGA levels than Robusta.
  2. 2
Convection roasted. Hot air heats each bean evenly from skin to core.
  3. 3
A slower, lower-temperature finish. It reduces CGAs further without over-darkening the beans.
  4. 4
Independent testing. Third-party labs test for pH, chlorogenic acids, pesticides, mycotoxins and heavy metals.

How much caffeine is in it?

French Roast, Rise & Shine and Espresso are fully caffeinated. Half Caff has about 50 mg of caffeine per serving, roughly half of a standard cup. Decaf is decaffeinated with the Mountain Water Process, which uses water to remove the caffeine.

Description

If you love coffee but it doesn’t always love you back, Alex’s Low Acid Organic Coffee™ Rise and Shine Single Serve Cups let you start your morning with a bright, smooth cup that is gentle on your stomach and full of flavor. They are perfect for anyone who is sensitive to acidity or simply wants an easy, satisfying coffee experience. Satisfaction guaranteed.

Alex’s Low Acid Rise and Shine is a lively blend of Sumatran and Mexican Chiapas coffees, roasted Italian style. It offers caramel sweetness with subtle hints of white pepper and vanilla bean, creating a smooth and balanced flavor that brightens your day. Each Single Serve Cups delivers rich, full-bodied coffee with no bitterness or discomfort.

More than 30 percent of coffee drinkers experience heartburn, acid reflux, or stomach discomfort after drinking coffee. Many believe the issue comes from pH level, but that is not the full story. Coffee naturally contains many acids that contribute to flavor and aroma. The real source of upper GI distress is a compound called Chlorogenic Acid, especially CQA 3, 4, and 5. These compounds occur naturally in coffee and can increase significantly during drum roasting.

Most coffee roasters use drum roasters, where beans come into contact with hot metal. We take a better approach. Our patented convection roasting system uses a bed of hot air so the beans never come into contact with steel. This gentle process ensures an even roast and significantly reduces Chlorogenic Acid levels. The result is a smooth, flavorful, easy-to-drink coffee that is kind to your stomach and convenient in every Single Serve Cups.

If you are skeptical, that is fair. There is plenty of conflicting information about coffee and acidity. Our process is supported by research from Dr. Taka Shibamoto, Distinguished Professor of Environmental Toxicology and Director of the UC Davis Coffee Center. His studies show that high levels of Chlorogenic Acid contribute to both bitterness and stomach irritation in coffee.

Certified Organic by Organic Certifiers. See for yourself why so many people call Alex’s Low Acid Organic Coffee™ the smoothest coffee they have ever tried. Order a box of Rise and Shine Single Serve Cups today and enjoy a warm, comforting cup that feels as good as it tastes.
